Announcement 2018

Wow, I cant believe that my last post was almost 6 months ago.  Well a lot has been going on in the workshop part of Little Links. I have been creating new and original items.

I have an announcement. I will be at this years 2018 new mexico tattoo convention. A lot of new items will be available there first.

Some new items that will be added to the store in July,  will be Trinket boxes, Key chains, Dragon necklaces, Rose necklaces. That is just to name a few.

I have been concentrating a lot on my Sugar skull pendants and I am very happy with the result. Im supper excited that all the hard work is paying off and these pendants are just coming out so beautifully.

I really hope that you guys love the new items just as much as I do. Pictures to come soon

Well the year is coming to an end. LLJ has had a lot of firsts.

I had wanted to give up so many times but I have gotten through this year just fine. Im ready for the next year and ready to grab all the opportunities that are in front of me. Making a hobby into a business is not an easy thing to do. Even though I have had some sales, I still consider this as a hobby. Don’t get me wrong, i would love to make LLJ my full time job. That is more of a 5 year plan than a one year plan.

I want to say thanks to all of my followers on social media, to my family who has encouraged me to keep going and not give up, to everyone who reads this blog thank you for taking time out of your day to do so and leaving comments.

Remember to keep dreaming, do what you love and always be kind!!!

What’s been going on

Hello everyone so I kind of took a break from social media and blogging. The main reason for that is I have been creating new items. I figured that doing a weekly update was unnecessary since everything is the same as the week before. It just seems a little repetitive and unnecessary.

The only thing that is going on is I have a great opportunity to showcase my work in a local shop. A few months ago a lady who owns the shop contacted me, she said she wanted to see what kind of products I have . I got everything ready and we had a little meeting. I explained to her my process. She asked if I did custom orders and I told her that I did.

Well that is what is going on with little links links nothing really too exciting exciting just creating beautiful jewelry and posted it to Instagram and Facebook hope you guys are having a wonderful night

Facebook live

So lately I have been trying to get more attention on social media One of the things that I have been trying is Facebook live there is only one downfall to this Facebook live thing is it notifies your followers but it’s really hard for someone to cross your live video as far as new people. Then I think maybe I’m not using the Facebook live correctly or maybe I’m not labeling my videos correctly.

When I go on my personal Facebook page to look at other Facebook live feed I always see our people who have millions of followers or thousands of people watching that video at that moment. The other videos that show up are videos that are not live.

Take for example that giraffe that was giving birth I don’t even know if she’s had the baby yet but I know that it was going on for a few days and there was over x-amount of people viewing so how do I find something like to captivate people to watch? Should I just make longer videos?Should I change the titles to something different? I mean I know this Facebook live is new to everybody and everybody’s using it at the moment. I just want to try to use the tools that are available to me. When I use these tools it seems like it’s a dead end and what I’m trying to do was build my followers and people who like my jewelry.

What are your guys thoughts on Facebook live? Are any of you guys having the same concerns?

First giveaway

So I’m super excited! I’m doing my first giveaway. The necklace I’ll be giving to the winner is a gothic style cross with maroon tips and a champagne color that’s frosted over. There are a total of 10 beads, 6 clear glass beads and 4 mother of pearl round shell beads.

Along with being super excited,Worry accompanies this feeling. Mainly because Im terrified that only 10 people will enter. This is just my anxiety kicking in.

I am confident that this giveaway will be a success on getting Little Links out there and more people aware of my etsy shop.

Resin rings!

So when i started working with resin I Had a friend ask me to make her a resin ring. I had no idea what what she was talking about. She had showed me a few pictures that she had found on pinterest, ok more than a few. I was fascinated with Livinlovin who makes beautiful  rings with flowers, and  smilewithflower who makes bulbous rings with flowers. Both are breath taking.

Now as you all know, I dont like coping other peoples work. I like to make my own creations. When my friend asked me to make her a resin ring, I honestly didn’t want to do it at first. Just for the main reason that I didn’t want to feel like I was coping someone. After a few months of her begging me to make her a ring  with gold flakes, I finally caved and agreed.

I bought a few molds, since I knew that this was going to be a one time project. I got my molds off of amazon, along with some type of gold flecks.

After mixing the resin and pouring it up. I quickly found out that this was not the project for me.  The first ring i poured up i spilled resin every where. The rest of the rings i decided to scoop the resin into the cavity, this was extremely time consuming. I noticed by the time i was getting to the end of scooping that the resin was setting a little.

Once they had set and been pulled from their molds, i noticed that some needed to be sanded. On the rings that were faceted they had a small lip.Once they got sanded and polished, I was in love. But not in love enough to make resin rings all the time. If I have some extra resin from a project I will definitely pour it into the ring molds.

Any idea on what to do with these resin rings?  I am thinking of putting them in a giveaway, I know for a fact I do not plan on selling them.

Bendy resin

In the past few weeks I have been making a lot more resin pieces with new molds that I have gotten. I have been using easy cast resin, and have not had any issues with this brand until now. I have been noticing that my pieces have been coming out really bendy. At first I thought it was because they had not fully cured. I had put them to the side and made a mental note to check on them in another day or so.

Making another batch and colored and poured them into  their molds, nothing out of the ordinary. When I went to release them, I noticed that this batch was also bendy. I was surprised because with my crazy home life I wasn’t able to de-mold them until a few days later.

Puzzled I went and made a third batch. I colored some of the resin, poured the colored and uncolored resin into molds, and also domed the back of a few bendy pendants. I was hopeful that this would help keep them more solid. Also wanting to find out if the colorants that I was using was the cause of the resin not being able to fully cure.  When I went to release them a few days later, they all came out bendy.Even the pendants that got domed

The end result of my bendy resin batch is I am going to switch back to another resin that I was using before hand. Not sure what I will do with the bendy pendants, but it will be epic!!!

SIDE NOTE: My etsy shop will be closed for a few months. The reason for this is so I can create some more items. I plan on re-opening  in June. The few items up at the moment will stay until they get bought or their listing time expires.
